I did basic course in January 2024. one evening after returning home from work I expressed interest from a program on radio about doing a course on rock climbing. After filling the form of the Institute of Exploration , I arrived on the specified day to take the BASIC course at Susunia Hills in Bankura District. My wife Mrs. Shreyasi Mondal and I both took this course.

We learned a lot from this four day Rock Climbing Course, we learned how to conduct a camp with discipline and also learned about (i) Mountaineering Manners (ii) Mountaineering Hazards, (iii) Cloud Reading, (iv) Mountain Terminology (v) Knowledge about rock face (vi) Type of Rock Faces, (vii) First-Aid- Technique etc. etc..

This four days course was very tough we woke up at 04 o'clock in the morning with hot bed tea and fall-in camp site then physical exercises started. By 06:30 in the morning we left breakfast and reached the top of the Hill's.

We had all Day practice on Susunia Hill's and where we learned various rock climbing techniques. Our instructor sir used to take theroretical class along with climbing. On first day we learned about the various tools, gears, aid, and equipment required for rock climbing.

In this Rock Climbing course I learned.

Every evening we came down from the hill top and freshened up at the camp site. Theoretical classes were held in the projector. Various mountain topics were discussed and various techniques and experiences were shared with each other,. after spending the night, we had camp dinner and slept in the tent.

On the third day when we came down from the Hill, each trainee brought dry wood by hand and put it in the camp and in the evening it was organised for the camp-Fire with a beautiful cultural program , such beautiful colorful culture is not to be forgotten in life.....

On the last day morning we hiked Susunia Hill's and saw many ancient petroglyphs and python snakes. After seeeing the inscription , I climbed the top of the hill and came back to the camp site again through the Susunia Waterfall. Today is the last day, so everyone hastily packed up the camp . and ready for examination.

After the Written examination , We said goodbye to everyone from the camp and returned home .
Needless to say , I got grade 'A' and my wife got grade 'B' in this Basic course.
